The following pages are some of the details found, so far, about the seventeen men listed there and that of Derrick Knights who is commemorated in the Methodist Chapel
No person with this exact profile is listed on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission database but this is believed to be R/209196, Fireman Trimmer Charles Mitchell of HM Yacht. He was the son of Henry James and Lilian Mitchell of Kesgrave and born on the 23rd April 1920 in Ipswich.
Excellent idea to remind us all of some of the men of the village who were lost, made all the more personal by their details of their home lives. Very well put together and is credit to those that did the research.

To see the photo and this tribute to Uncle ( Bill) William Hayes, as I sadly was only ever to know him by, was a treasure today to hold onto.
Also the information given ,as a child I believe I was protected from the detail of the family loss.
But I always recall gran telling me that one or 2 letters she recieved from Uncle (Bill ) William some years after the notification of her loss and she so treasured these.
it is also a fine tribute to other Bramford Youngsters with a life time ahead of them,but sadly not to be.
To close on a happier memory for Uncle Bill :-
My dad Dennis (Bub) to many fondly recalled how he learnt to swim as a result of brother Bill throwing him in the river at Bramford Bridge and given 2 options swim or sink,thanfully dad managed the first option.

Having made the journey to Kranji War Memorial Singapore .
Simply to say I thanked the gardeners working in full sun 40’C ,as they truly keep the gardens and memorial in tip top condition for The Bramford Lads .
I have made my family comment on Uncle Bill Hayes site and noted on Edgar Seeley and Clifford G Green site that I visited and a relevant photo has been forwarded to Kelvin Dakin.
I am also honoured that one of my photos of the memorial is to be used on the back of the order of service at the Remembrance Gathering For The Allied Men of The Suez Maru Singapore 29th Nov 2023 at The National Memorial Arboretum Staffordshire .I am planning to attend with another family member.
