Donald was born in 1910 to George and Alice Lucas.
In 1911 Donald was with his family at 31 Withipoll Street, Ipswich but by 1939 his parents had moved to 21 Pearl Road Ipswich.
He married Frances Mary Elizabeth Scales in 1933.
The Scales family lived at “Marilyn” Limes Avenue, Bramford in 1939 and this is where Donald’s home address was for  probate records.
Buried at Becklingen War Cemetery, Neidersachsen, Germany.

Sgt Lucas was killed on his first operation to Magdeburg on the 21/22 January 1944 in Lancaster JB408 MG-A which took off from Oakington at 19.52hrs. It is not known how the crew lost their lives but there was much night-fighter activity on this operation. Five of the crew lie in Becklingen War Cemetery including Sgt Lucas and two lie in Hanover War Cemetery.
