The Hon. Margaret Carr is mentioned in the sale catalogue as the owner at the time. Her name was Margaret Lacon before she married Captain Robert Carr in 1928.

The Lacon family lived at Bramford Lodge during and after the 1914-18 war. Kelly’s Directory for 1922 has an entry for Captain Henry E Lacon, Justice of the Peace. He was the son of Henry James Lacon, R.N. of The Goldrood, Belstead Road in Ipswich. In the 1881 White’s Directory Henry Lacon was living at Goldrood, and his neighbour at Birkfield was Edward Packard Esq.

In the Chancel of the Church of St. Mary the Virgin in Bramford is a lectern from which the lessons are read. This was given in memory of Henry Lacon in 1924. In 1925 the directory entry was for the Honourable Mrs. Lacon living at The Lodge.

Margaret Lacon was the daughter of William Macnaghten Erskine, 5th Baron Erskine and therefore had the courtesy title of “The Honourable”. Her father died in 1913.

In 1939 Isaura Loraine – previously of Bramford Hall – is listed as the occupier.
